Disney Lorcana is a newcomer to the TCG scene and is uniquely positioned to appeal to both Disney fans as well as TCG fans. After the initial hype settled down, sealed products for newer sets are readily available for purchase at MSRP or even at a small discount. While enchanted cards are still highly sought after and usually sells for hundreds of dollars, Lorcana's true selling point is its fun, streamlined, and thematic gameplay. It has simple core mechanics that appeals to casual players but still offers plenty of strategic depth for experienced players.

Player's Insight:

Lorcana plays similarly to Magic at a core level, but fixes the #1 most hated flaw of competitive Magic, which is the unavoidable "mana-screw" or "mana-flood" luck of the draw that renders even the best decks and the best players completely helpless. Lorcana works around this problem by allowing you to place arbitrary cards from your hand face-down to use as resource. Not only does this nearly eliminate the possibility of "mana-screw" or "mana-flood", it also results in more varied and situational game play - a card used as a resource in one match could end up winning the game in a different match. Furthermore, it is super easy to build a playable deck, even by just throwing together 60 random cards - up to 1/3rd of the deck can be total junk and it would still work, since they can be placed face down as resource.
